There’s a lot happening in February. Groundhog Day obviously comes to mind first – will we suffer through six more weeks of winter?! Need to know. After that, Valentine’s Day *cue eye roll*. Whether you have plans with friends, a romantic night on the town or some major “me time” planned, we enlisted Nine Zero One stylist, Jill Buck, to put together a few looks we love for any outing. Peep the breakdown of our first look, THE ROPE BRAID BUN, below. Follow the step-by-step and share your completed look with us @instylerhair.
PRIME & STYLE
Moving from hair ends upward, prep your hair with PRIME Transforming Spray. PRIME will give hair extra hold as you style while leaving hair silky soft. Next, grab the CERASILK Curling Iron to give your hair messy waves and texture.
TEASE & SECTION
Pull out a few front pieces of hair and pull forward so you don’t include while styling. Section hair at the crown and tease for extra volume (this also avoids any annoying back of head part visibility). Spilt hair into two sections.
Start by twisting the right section over the left. Draw a small section of hair and add it to the same side before the next twist. Repeat, always making sure your left section stays under the right as it twists over top for next level dimension.
TIE & SEPARATE
Leave a few inches of hair out before tying off the complete rope braid. Go over the braid with EXPANDA Dust. This will add additional volume and texture as you pull apart and separate the braid, starting from bottom to top, for a looser, messier look.
WIND & SET
Wind up from the bottom of your rope braid, tucking the rope into a loose ball. Start pinning the rope into place. We used two pins on each side of the bun to secure. Have fun here, there’s no such thing as a perfect messy bun!
Using the CERASILK Curling Iron like a wand, softly curl the front pieces of hair that you left out. Run through with your fingers to soften.
